Izhakevich Ivan Sidorovich
Izhakevich Ivan Sidorovich – was born on the 18th of January, 1864 in Vishnopol village, Cherkasy region. He studied at the Kyiv Drawing School and the Petersburg Academy of Arts. Mentors: Murashko N., Platonova H. In 1882-1884, he participated in the restoration of the ancient frescoes of the Kirillov Monastery in Kyiv, painted the Refectory Church in Belgorod, Borisoglebska Church in Kyiv, the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pecherska Lavra, the Church of St. George. The author of illustrations to the works of Shevchenko T.G., Gogol N.V., Lesya Ukrainka, Ivan Franko, Kotlyarevsky I., and others. In 1951, awarded with the title of "National Artist of the USSR." The works are represented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, and in numerous museums, galleries, and private collections around the world. The artist died on the 19th of January, 1962.
