Podervyansky Sergiy Pavlovich
Podervyansky Sergiy Pavlovich – was born on the 15th of July, 1916 in Kyiv. He began his in 1930 as the author of political and film posters. Member of the Second World War. Was awarded with military medals. He studied at the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. Mentors: K. Rudakov, V. Konashevich, M. Avilov. The graduation work of the artist “N.G. Chernyshevsky in 1862 in the Petropavlivsk Fortress was presented at the Institute Exhibition of graduate works, opened in July 1952 in Leningrad, in the Research Museum of the USSR Academy of Arts. Since 1953 he has been taking part in republican and all-Union art exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He worked in the field of genre painting and book graphics. Master of portrait and landscape. Father of Les Podervyansky. Made illustrations to the works: E. Voinich's “The Gadfly” (1967), R. Jovagnioli's “Spartak” (1966), A. Hertzen's “Who is to blame?” (1958), V. Korolenko's “Children of the Underground” (1964). Since 1952, teacher of drawing and painting at the Kyiv Art Institute, since 1963 – Associate Professor, since 1970 – Head of the Department, since 1982 – Professor. Personal exhibitions of the artist were held in Kyiv in 1973 and 2006. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1982 – National Artist of Ukraine. The works of Sergiy Podervyansky are kept in the Ukrainian National Art Museum, museum, gallery, and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Major works: "Left" (1961); "Behind the Living Wall" (1965); "Portrait of Navigator V. Dzyubenka" (1968); "Portrait of the Deputy of city council V. Popenka "(1969); "Portrait of the USSR Nation Artist F. Nirod" (1970) and others. The artist died on the 9th of September, 2006.
