Tartakovsky Isaac Iosifovich
Tartakovsky Isaac Iosifovich – was born on April 25, 1912, in the Volochisk city, Khmelnytsky region in the family of a teacher. In 1919, the artist's family moved to Kyiv. He studied at the art-industrial school (1929) with mentors K. Trokhimenko and K. Eleva and at the Kyiv Institute of Cinematography at the cameraman's faculty in the workshop of O. Dovzhenko (1932-1937). Before the war, he worked at the Kyiv Film Studio, where, together with M. Umansky, he participated in the creation of the films "Olexandr Parkhomenko", "And big Life". Member of the World War Two. After the end of the war, he entered the Kyiv Art Institute. His teachers were O. Shovkunenko, V. Kostetsky, S. Grigoriev, T. Yablonska. Since 1949 he has taken part in republican and all-Union exhibitions, since 1951, and in international exhibitions. He graduated in 1951 with the painting "On the Watch of the World" with honors. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1976 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine and in 1993 People's Artist of Ukraine. The author of numerous thematic paintings, distinguished by their imagery and sincere love of life. He left the memory as a master of portraits, but the artist painted many refined landscapes and still-life, especially in the last years of his life. The artist died on June 18, 2002 in Kyiv.
