ABOUT THE ARTIST: Gluk Gavriil Martynovich – was born in 19th of May, 1912 in Sighet city, Romania. He studied at the Budapest Art School, at the Budapest Fine Arts High School and at the Chisinau Art School. Since 1940 he participated in republican, all-Union and international exhibitions. Since 1945, Member of the Union of Artists of Moldova. Since 1954, a member of the Transcarpathian Organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. In 1956, he was awarded with a diploma of the Venetian Exhibition, and in 1958, a diploma and a Large silver medal at the exhibition in Brussels. Honored Artist of the USSR from 1963. The first personal exhibition was held in Uzhgorod in 1963. Totally artist took part in more than one hundred and fifty art exhibitions. Critics and art historians distinguished bright imagery and nationality in his works. The main works: "Rural Street" (1947), "On Rest" (1950), "Loggers on the Watch of Peace" (1950-1951), "Loggers" (1954), "Mountain Landscape" (1962), "Evening" (1967), Molotba (1970), The Man from Solotvyn (1974), The Girls in the Field (1977), The Childhood series (1978-1981). The artist's works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Transcarpathian I. Bokshay Art Museum, in galleries and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. The artist died on 2 of November, 1983.
