ABOUT THE ARTIST: Vax Bentsion (Boris) Iosifovich – was born on May 12, 1912 in Zhytomyr. He graduated from Kyiv Art College (1932); Kharkiv Art Institute (1944-1948). Specialty teachers are S. Prokhorov, O. Kokel, A. Cherkassky, M. Deregus, A. Kramarenko. Painter, graphic artist. He worked in the field of easel and monumental painting, graphics. He created several idealized images of his contemporaries. Leading topics are torsion poetry of a toiler. In the 1960-1970s, he was influenced by the "severe" style, this turned his paintings into a kind of poster. Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1950). Honored Artist of the USSR (1973). Member of World War II. Was awarded a medal. Since 1933 he lived in Stalino (Donetsk): a club artist, a painting teacher at the Palace of Pioneers. He was a lecturer in Kharkiv Art College (1948-1952). He worked at the Art Fund of Kharkiv (1951-1955). Participated in republican, Union and foreign art exhibitions (1949). Personal exhibitions - in Kharkiv (1972), Kyiv (1975). Main works: painting - "Adopted" (1954), "Cranes. Front Spring" (1957), "Kharkiv Region" (1960), "On the Virgin Lands" (1961), "In the Battle of the Communist" (1962 - 1965); triptych "Bread" (1968), "Morning of Donbass" (1970), "Silence" (1971), "Gladiolus" (1978), "Thunderstorm passed" (1984), "In the liberated Donbass" (1985); Graphics - "Latvian Fishermen" (1954), "Old Donbass. The family of a miner" (1957); color linocuts - "Arrest" (1961), "My Thoughts, Thoughts", "Childhood of Taras" and others. He lived and worked in Kharkiv, died on August 4, 1989.
